The data quality analyst will work closely with DTCC Development, DerivSERV Operations, Product and Project Managers. The candidate must be able to interact with a large customer base consisting of Global Banks, Swaps Execution Facilities (SEF’s) and Designated Contract markets (DCM’s).
Department/Area Function:
Develops, analyzes and prepares metrics to industry participants who are reporting Derivatives trade data to the Global Trade repository. The Global Trade Repository (GTR) program is a multi-year project whose sole purpose is to satisfy global banks and financial institutions regulatory reporting obligations via a centralized repository of Derivative trade data. By reporting data to the DTCC GTR once, firms are able to satisfy multiple jurisdictional regulatory reporting responsibilities globally.
Position Summary:
The data quality analyst will work closely with DTCC Development, DerivSERV Operations, Product and Project Managers. The candidate must be able to interact with a large customer base consisting of Global Banks, Swaps Execution Facilities (SEF’s) and Designated Contract markets (DCM’s).
The Data Quality Analyst Focus will primarily be on the ability to identify and research potential regulatory reporting issues for derivative products. This person will assist firms with performing post trade processing reconciliations to ensure accurate trade and position reporting.
The successful candidate must have an ability to read and apply industry regulations to various reporting metrics and possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Also required are good understanding of technology used to process and report Derivatives
Principal Responsibilities:
Product Strategy
- Builds and maintains data quality metrics used for industry wide regulatory benchmarking
- Builds and defines multiple regulatory data reporting views to ensure completeness and quality of reporting
- Contributes to the analysis of monthly firm data reporting trends identifying areas of strengths and opportunities
- Participates in regular cross-functional and cross-asset project team meetings to ensure project strategy and operational issues are reviewed, resolved and constantly improved.
- Identifies GTR improvements within the asset class of observation and suggests changes
- Works with firms to discuss and improve data reporting workflows
- Manages customer expectations
- Suggests improvements to GTR asset class messaging and submission rules
Business Planning
- Plays an active part in ongoing Data Quality planning and industry review sessions
- Participates in internal product development teams and working groups
- Participates in discussions with cross functional and cross-asset team members to identify major initiatives for the coming year
Audit / Legal / Regulatory Monitoring and Response
- Provides input into response to audit reviews of product(s)
- Responsible for supporting the department in adherence to AML/BSA policies and procedures as set-forth by various regulatory bodies.
- As applicable, serve as Compliance Liaison and in conjunction with OCRC:
Staff Management / Development
Proactively manages own development needs
Experience:
- 5+ years of customer-related experience working in a customer facing role in the financial or professional services industry.
- Minimum three years’ experience working with derivative products
- Solid understanding of regulatory reporting requirements (Dodd-Frank, ESMA, HKMA, ASIC etc.)
- Good overall understanding of derivatives business, trade workflows and market products
- The role requires a good understanding of at least two of the following asset classes (Commodities, Equities or FX)
- Candidate has been involved with data reporting projects (Regulatory, internal and external reporting)
- Strong MS Excel skills
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Good oral interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work closely with IT and business partners to maximize data extraction opportunities
- Excellent Data Analysis skills with ability to review a data set and point out issues/points of failure
- Work with Firms to help improve accuracy of data submission
- Conduct troubleshooting with management and IT as problems in data management systems arise to promote consistency of reporting
- Ability to work effectively in a team/matrix environment.
- Proficient in data manipulation and extraction techniques and able to interpret results of query analysis
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient PC skills, specifically with business-oriented applications such as MS Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills;
- Attention to detail and thoroughness
- Ability to forge strategic relationships with DTCC customer’s to ensure firm reporting objectives are satisfactorily met
Education, Training &/or Certification:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
