Although SwapClear has accepted AUD IRS for some time, there has been a pending approval from regulators in Australia as to whether Australian banks can directly join the service. That approval has now been received, which will over-shadow the efforts by ASX to offer a domestic IRS clearing service. There may well be room for a domestic service, this approach exists in Hong, Kong, Japan, Poland and soon Brasil perhaps.
