LLB and Postgraduate Degree (U. Externado de Colombia), LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law (Queen Mary, University of London) and Ph.D. in Law (U. of Warwick). Ligia Catherine specialises in the study of financial derivatives market and regulatory changes in the UK and the US. She has been granted with several scholarships from Externado de Colombia University, Fundación para el Futuro de Colombia COLFUTURO and Ecopetrol S.A. Most recently, the central bank of Colombia sponsored her Ph.D. at the University of Warwick.
Additionally, Ligia Catherine has been lecturer of Commercial Law, Financial Law and Investment Arbitration in different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Externado de Colombia University. Currently, she is assistant lecturer of the Financial Services Regulation Seminar at School of Law- University of Warwick. She has been conference presenter in Oxford, Cornell and Harvard Universities. Moreover, she is a private consultant on Central Clearing Services, in exchange and OTC markets, particularly in emerging markets. The consultancy services include legal structure and functioning of CCPs, governance arrangements, conflicts of laws, drafting of CCPs-CMs agreements.
Several of her research articles have been published in Canadian (BFLR), British (Warwick Law School Working Paper Series) and Colombian Law Journals (E- mercatori@ and Revista Derecho Privado- U.Externado).
