Live from the Enterprise Collateral Management Conference in London – Summary of day 1

Experts from FOXEYE are currently participating at the Enterprise Collateral Management Conference 2013 in London. Here is a short summary of day 1 from Astrid Tan – one of our senior consultants: Yesterday was the first day of the Enterprise Collateral Management Conference in London. Getting updates and networking with the regulators, CCPs, top banks and vendors was very informative! The biggest question during the day was clearly not about being compliant with the OTC regulation anymore but rather about the challenges that occur during the implementation phase. There has been a growth of 27% of collateral in circulation since 1999; at the same time cross border trading is getting less which increases the risk of a collateral shortage in the jurisdiction. So where is collateral moving to or rather is it moving into the right direction? Whether banks, non-financials, or asset manager – the echo is clear: the business model is changing even if unwanted. Stay tuned for more updates and insight during the next days.
