On behalf of the Global Risk Institute I am pleased to invite you to attend our inaugural collaborative event with the Warwick Business school. The Global Risk Institute is a member based organization focused on the management of emerging risk in financial services companies. Our membership includes banks, insurance companies, pension funds and asset managers (www.globalriskinstitute.org). We are pleased to be joining forces on this event with Warwick Business school who’s missions it is to be a world leader in business education, research and engagement, and helping to create a better global society.

The evening’s expert panel will include insights from: 

Dr. Alex E. LaPlante: Alex LaPlante is the Research Manager at GRI. She holds a BASc in mechanical engineering from the University of Windsor and earned her MASc and PhD in operations research from the University of Toronto, where she studied the operational efficiency and growth potential of bank branch networks. Prior to joining GRI, she held the position of Director of Enterprise Analytics at CIBC. Her current research interests are machine learning, big data, and ESG risks with a focus on climate change-related risks in the financial sector.

Prof Yuval Millo: Yuval Millo is a Professor of Accounting at the Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. Yuval’s expertise is in technology of financial markets and accounting valuation systems. Yuval conducts inter-disciplinary research that combines science and technology studies, accounting and sociology to examine, among else, financial risk, payment and clearing systems and valuation of social impact. Yuval’s research has been published, among else in American Journal of Sociology, Journal of Management Studies and Accounting, Organizations and Society.

 

Dr. Markos Zachariadis: Markos Zachariadis is Assistant Professor of Information Systems & Management at Warwick Business School and a FinTech Research Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI), University of Cambridge. Markos' research sits at the cross section of economics of digital innovation, financial technology studies, and network economics, and has studied extensively the economic impact of ICT adoption on bank performance, the diffusion of payment networks, and the role of data & standards in payment infrastructures (SWIFT) and financial markets (LEI) among other things.
